‘Science Speaks’ Examines New Senate Committee Members’ Support For Global Health

The Center for Global Health Policy’s “Science Speaks” blog profiles Sens. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), and Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), discusses their different committee appointments, and examines their support for global health initiatives. “With chairs hailing from two states that serve as headquarters to global health agenda setters, and a ranking Republican who was one of eight senators to vote against the ‘fiscal cliff’ deal, but who has steadily supported PEPFAR, global health advocates may expect mixed signals from Capitol Hill,” the blog writes (Barton, 1/16).

The KFF Daily Global Health Policy Report summarized news and information on global health policy from hundreds of sources, from May 2009 through December 2020. All summaries are archived and available via search.
