1. Private contracting is distinct from Direct Contracting, which is a set of voluntary payment model options under the Innovation Center at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Direct Contracting allows participating entities and clinicians to engage in risk-sharing arrangements in order to reduce expenditures and preserve or enhance quality of care for beneficiaries in Medicare fee-for-service.
