UPDATED: The House Committee on Appropriations approved the FY 2021 State & Foreign Operations (SFOPs) appropriations bill (and accompanying report) on July 9, 2020 (a draft version of the bill was released on July 6 and the accompanying report was released on July 8).
The White House released its FY 2021 budget request to Congress on February 10, 2020, which includes significant cuts to global health programs compared to the FY 2020 enacted levels. In addition, in some cases, these cuts are steeper than those proposed by the Administration in last year’s request.

The Senate Appropriations Committee released the draft FY 2020 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) appropriations bill (and accompanying report) on September 18, 2019. The LHHS appropriations bill includes funding for U.S. global health programs provided to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
On June 19, 2019, the House passed a package of FY 2020 appropriations bills (minibus), which included global health funding for the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
