G8 Must Do More To Address Health Care Worker Brain Drain

Though “[h]ealth systems strengthening has recently become a new G8 focus and this year, the human resources in health crisis received some attention,” the G8’s actions listed in the Deauville Accountability Report say “absolutely nothing about stopping the recruitment of health workers from low income countries to G8 countries, which would do more to help reverse the brain drain than any other single action,” Rhona MacDonald, a freelance editor and PLoS guest blogger, writes on the PLoS’ “Speaking of Medicine” blog (6/6).

The KFF Daily Global Health Policy Report summarized news and information on global health policy from hundreds of sources, from May 2009 through December 2020. All summaries are archived and available via search.
