The Wall Street Journal reports on negotiations surrounding a U.N. declaration to be discussed at the High Level Meeting on AIDS scheduled for June 8-10 in New York. “Governments as diverse as Iran, Thailand and the Vatican – as well as a wide range of advocacy groups – are tussling over what actions the U.N. will commit to, whether patent rights will be respected for AIDS drugs, and how to deal with divisive social issues such as drug addiction and homosexuality,” the newspaper writes (McKay/Schoofs, 5/27).
