World Economic Forum: More than just a phone: mobile’s impact on sustainable development
Mats Granryd, director general of GSMA, which represents the interests of mobile network operators worldwide, discusses the impact of mobile technology in helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 2: Zero hunger, SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy, and SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities. Granryd writes, “[T]he mobile industry is making important progress in advancing the SDGs — progress made possible by operators integrating the SDGs into their core strategies, activities, and values.
