Gates Foundation Blog Series Examines Contraception Options For Women, Girls

Writing in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s “Impatient Optimists” blog, Gary Darmstadt, head of the family health division at the foundation, and Monica Kerrigan, a family planning expert, introduce the blog’s new series, “What’s Your Method?,” which “offers a window into many of the contraceptive options for women and girls around the world.” They write, “Each day we’ll publish one or more posts on these methods from some of our valued partners working every day to ensure that these methods truly become options for the millions of women and girls who want and need them” (2/16). In the first post of the series, Laneta Dorflinger, a distinguished scientist in FHI 360’s global health, population and nutrition group; Kate Rademacher, a senior technical officer in the group; and Vera Halpern, a scientist and project director for the Longer-Acting Injectable Initiative at FHI 360, discuss the use of injectable contraceptives among women in sub-Saharan Africa (2/16).
