On Valentine’s Day, celebrated Thursday, “we will dance in protest of gender-based violence as part of a worldwide movement, One Billion Rising,” Kylin Beeson, a member of the Young Global Leaders Program (YGLP) with One By One; Emily Kase, a YGLP intern; and Lindsey Youngquist, a former a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, write in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s “Impatient Optimists” blog. “We are members of the youth advocacy team at One By One (www.fightfistula.org), a Seattle-based organization committed to treating and preventing obstetric fistula in the developing world,” they write, adding, “One By One’s youth advocacy teams from around the world are taking a creative stand against gender-based violence in the One Billion Rising movement” (2/13).
