Enrollment Information for People New to Medicare

I missed my Initial Enrollment Period because of an extenuating situation. I looked through all the Special Enrollment Periods and none match my situation. What should I do?

If you had an extenuating situation that was outside your control and prevented you from enrolling in Medicare, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period on a case-by-case basis. You should contact your local Social Security Administration office to see if you would qualify.

While we have made every effort to provide accurate information in these FAQs, people should contact the health insurance Marketplace or Medicaid agency in their state for guidance on their specific circumstances.
