Rally For Medical Research Supports Continued Funding For NIH, Other R&D

The Center for Global Health Policy’s “Science Speaks” blog describes the Rally for Medical Research that took place on Monday in Washington, D.C. An estimated 8,000 survivors and activists participated, showing support for medical research funding, including money that is slated to be cut from the federal budget under the so-called “sequester,” the blog notes (Barton, 4/8). According to the event’s website, “This unified call to action will raise awareness about the critical need for a sustained investment in the [National Institutes of Health (NIH)] to improve health, spur more progress, inspire more hope and save more lives” (4/9).
