World AIDS Day began in 1988 to focus global attention on the HIV/AIDS epidemic across countries, organizations and governments and is commemorated around the world on December 1 by highlighting progress made in the battle against the epidemic and reminding people how much still needs to be done.
The Kaiser Family Foundation serves as a resource for information about HIV/AIDS policy, public opinion and knowledge about the disease, and media-based partnerships, including the KNOW HIV/AIDS campaign to support World AIDS Day.
Kaisernetwork.org brings you information on World AIDS Day-related events including webcasts; news headlines; access to studies and key facts; and links to resources and organizations around the world--with emphasis on this year's campaign focus: stigma.
