This tracker provides the number of cases and deaths from novel coronavirus by country, the trend in case and death counts by country, and a global map of showing which countries have cases and deaths. There have been over 5.4 million confirmed cases and 346,000 confirmed deaths worldwide.

State Data and Policy Actions to Address Coronavirus

Last week, actions to ease social distancing requirements went into effect in 28 states and 14 states extended social distancing measures. As of May 7, 33 total states were reporting 25,000 deaths across 6,000 long-term care facilities. Two weeks ago, only 6 states reported this data.

Coronavirus’ Unequal Economic Toll

In this column by Drew Altman in Axios, he finds almost half of African Americans and Latinos are struggling to pay their bills because of coronavirus. “This pain would surely be worse without Washington’s relief efforts. Even so, the hardship is real, and that strengthens the case for more aid and better targeting to the families that need it most.”
