    A new KFF analysis finds that across 46 PEPFAR countries and among six different indicators of progress, the majority (40) has met at least one target. The analysis is part of a dashboard that provides a detailed look at progress being made to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in countries where PEPFAR operates.

    This poll finds most of the public believe the cutbacks at USAID will lead to increases in illness and death in low-income countries. Nearly half say it will reduce the U.S. budget. Most of the public also overestimates the share of the federal budget that is spent on foreign aid, and when informed it is about 1% of the federal budget, the share who want to reduce spending drops.

But, information on their relative contributions, which is important for assessing the HIV response, is not readily available. We analyzed data from PEPFAR documents on funding for key HIV commodities in 34 PEPFAR countries to better understand the funding landscape.
