The White House released the FY 2014 budget request, which included funding for U.S. global health activities. Overall, funding for global health programs (at USAID and the State Department combined) increased in the FY 2014 request as compared to FY12 actual and FY13 estimated levels. This varied by specific global health program area (see below).

At 9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, Feb. 28, the Kaiser Family Foundation will host a town hall-style forum with Ambassador Eric Goosby, the newly named head of the State Department's new Office of Global Health Diplomacy as well as U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, to explore the goals and objectives of the new office. This report provides an analysis of donor government funding to address the HIV response in low- and middle-income countries in 2011, the latest year available, as well as trends over time. It includes both bilateral funding from donors and their multilateral contributions to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund), UNITAID, and Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).
This report examines the United States' response to HIV over the last 30 years compared to that of other high-income countries.
