Avni Gupta

Senior Researcher, Program on the ACA

Avni Gupta is a senior researcher for the Program on the ACA and the Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker. Her research focuses on health insurance affordability, consumer experiences with health insurance, and access to health care, primarily within the U.S. private insurance market.

Prior to joining KFF, Gupta was a researcher in the Commonwealth Fund’s Health Care Coverage and Access program, where she led the analysis of the Fund’s national surveys on health insurance and published research on underinsurance, cost-related access barriers, medical debt, coverage denials and health inequities. She previously worked as a research scientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and with health care nonprofit organizations in India.

Gupta holds a Ph.D. in public health policy from New York University, a Master of Public Health in epidemiology and biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree of dental surgery from India.
