Employer-Sponsored Health Coverage and the Marketplace

My large employer offers health benefits to me. My spouse works and has coverage through her job. To figure out whether my coverage is affordable, do I just count my income or do I count my spouse’s salary, as well?

Yes, you should count your spouse’s income to determine whether your own employer-based plan is affordable to you. The test of whether your employer plan is affordable is whether the amount you must contribute to premiums is equal to or less than 9.02% of your household income for 2025. Household income includes your spouse’s income.
