The latest Kaiser Health Tracking Poll, fielded right after the U.S. House cancelled its vote on a plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA), finds a majority of Americans saying it is a “good thing” that Congress did not pass the American Health Care Act (AHCA). And despite divided views about the ACA, three-fourths of the public say President Trump and his administration should do what they can to make the existing health care law work. The survey also explores who the public blames for the failure of the Republican bill and next steps for President Trump and Republicans in Congress.

On the seventh anniversary of the passing of the Affordable Care Act, this Data Note highlights five of the most common misconceptions surrounding the 2010 health care law.

The latest Kaiser Health Tracking Poll examines the public’s early attitudes towards the House Republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and finds that more expect the new plan will make things worse rather than better when it comes to the number of people with coverage and costs for those buying insurance on their own. The survey also measures public support for continuing current federal Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, gauges the importance of various ACA provisions for women’s and children’s health, and revisits the public’s knowledge on key provisions included in the health care law.

This month’s Kaiser Health Tracking Poll explores the public’s views on the changing landscape of the U.S. health care system including proposals to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and to change Medicaid financing to a system of block grants or per capita allotments. The survey also examines which sources, including news media and other sources, the public trusts for information on the proposed changes to the country’s health care system.

The most recent Kaiser Health Tracking Poll finds that health care is among the top issues, with the economy and jobs and immigration, Americans want President-elect Donald Trump and the next Congress to address in 2017. As Congressional lawmakers make plans for the future of the Affordable Care Act, the latest survey finds the public is divided on what they would like lawmakers to do when it comes to the 2010 health care law with similar shares saying the next Congress should vote to repeal the law (49%) as saying that it should not vote to repeal it (47%).

The November Kaiser Health Tracking Poll, conducted one week after the 2016 presidential election, finds health care played a limited role in voters’ 2016 election decisions. While President-elect Trump and Republican lawmakers have made it clear that one of their top priorities is the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, the survey finds Americans are divided on what they want to see lawmakers do to the health care law. This survey also finds that many of the law’s major provisions continue to be popular, even across party lines.

In advance of the Affordable Care Act’s fourth open enrollment period beginning on November 1st, this Data Note examines the public’s views on the 2010 health care law, including which groups are perceived as better and worse off as a result and what sources individuals go to for information about the legislation.

This month’s Kaiser Health Tracking Poll examines top issues to voters in the presidential election and finds that while health care ranks low, voters report being aware of the differences between Clinton’s and Trump’s health care proposals. Findings also include a look at which health care issues the next president and Congress should prioritize, the future of the Affordable Care Act, as well as Americans’ views on the creation of a public health insurance option.

In advance of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the July Kaiser Health Tracking Poll examines the role that health care may play in the 2016 presidential election: how important health care is to voters, what health care issues voters would most like to hear the candidates discuss, and which party and candidates voters feel most closely aligned with on health care issues.
