AIDS 2010: TB and HIV Management in High Prevalence Settings: From Coordination to Integration
For more information on this session, including access to speaker presentations, please see the conference Programme-at-a-Glance.
Integration of services is a key challenge in the global response to the HIV and TB epidemics. Recognizing that responses need to be adapted to epidemiological contexts, and the particular urgency for integration in areas of high co-infection, this session focuses on finding solutions in sub-Saharan Africa, where some of the highest rates of HIV and TB co-infection have been documented. The session will aim to address the challenges faced by co-infected individuals in accessing effective care; discuss challenges in coordination and integration of HIV and TB services in high HIV-prevalence settings; stimulate discussion regarding barriers to integration; highlight some successful models and programmes; and identify key points for action.
