AIDS 2010: Is This the End of AIDS Diplomacy?

AIDS 2010: Is This the End of AIDS Diplomacy?

For more information on this session, including access to speaker presentations, please see the conference Programme-at-a-Glance page.

This session builds upon the AIDS Ambassadors session at AIDS 2008, and brings together the current AIDS Ambassadors to discuss their evolving role. Since the AIDS 2008 conference in Mexico there have been substantial changes with AIDS Ambassadors, and many of the original AIDS Ambassadors have now left their roles – or will leave by the end of 2010. While some have been replaced, others will not be. And some of the Ambassadors have now taken on other responsibilities, or changed the shape of their engagement. All face a more complex and evolving context for their work with new political and funding priorities. In the year that Universal Access is due, what is the future of AIDS diplomacy?
