Last week, actions to ease social distancing requirements went into effect in 28 states and 14 states extended social distancing measures. As of May 7, 33 total states were reporting 25,000 deaths across 6,000 long-term care facilities. Two weeks ago, only 6 states reported this data.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other analysis have identified coronavirus outbreaks in meatpacking facilities. This data note analyzes key characteristics of food production workers to provide insight into who these risks affect and the health and financial implications of the COVID-19 outbreak for these workers and their communities.
