Laurin Asdal is Vice President of Development at KFF. She oversees KFF’s fundraising activities and works in close partnership with President, Drew Altman, finance, and senior program staff to raise external funds for KFF’s highest priority programs and initiatives. She has spent over twenty years as a professional fundraiser focused primarily on major giving. Prior to joining KFF, Laurin was the Deputy Chief Advancement Officer, Major Gifts at the Sierra Club, the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization in the country. There she led a team of twenty-six gift officers, communication staff, grant writers and administration staff and raised over $100M in annual C3 and C4 revenue from individual donors, foundations, and planned gifts. Prior to that she spent 15 years at Mother Jones, most recently as the Director of Development. For over forty-five years, Mother Jones has been a premier source for independent investigative journalism in the United States, reporting that impacts public understanding of issues and makes smart use of new media to reinforce impactful storytelling. Laurin graduated with honors from University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in Sociology and Political Science and serves as Treasurer of the Board of the Parent Teacher Organization at Montera Middle School in Oakland.
