Ana Gonzalez-Barrera

Senior Project Director, Public Opinion & Survey Research



Ana Gonzalez-Barrera is a senior project director at KFF for Public Opinion & Survey Research. She is an expert on analyzing and surveying the Hispanic population in the U.S. She also has extensive expertise on U.S. immigration, particularly on Mexican immigration to the U.S. and U.S.-Mexico border enforcement issues.

Before joining KFF in 2022, she served as senior researcher at Pew Research Center for over 10 years. Prior to that, she served as director of population distribution and regional sustainable development at the Mexican Population Council. Gonzalez-Barrera also worked for more than four years at CIDE in Mexico, where she coordinated two rounds of the Mexico and the Americas public opinion survey.

She received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and a master’s degree in public policy from the Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago, where she was a Fulbright-Garcia Robles scholar.
