New KFF/MTV Sexual Health Campaign

Since 1997, the Kaiser Family Foundation has worked with MTV to inform viewers about sexual health issues. On Tuesday, April 16th, MTV announced as part of its longstanding relationship with the Kaiser Family Foundation it is elevating sexual health issues to its highest pro-social priority for 2002 / 03.
The new yearlong campaign, Fight For Your Rights: Protect Yourself, will include special programming, targeted public service messages, grassroots events, and an extensive resource and referral service, including one of the most comprehensive websites on sexual health issues for youth and a free guide available through a toll-free hotline. Viewers can also get access to counselors and providers in their local communities through links with the CDC and Planned Parenthood. The first show produced under the new campaign - based on an online National Sex Quiz taken by some 350,000 viewers already - will air on April 20th and will examine youth misperceptions about sexual health.
Findings from a new national survey by the Foundation for MTV find that sexual health issues, like HIV and other STDs, are among the top rated concerns facing youth today, and many are in need of more information. Three in four young people say they turn to the media to get answers.
