Hearing Their Voices: A Qualitative Research Study on HIV Testing and Higher-Risk Teens

This report, conducted for the Kaiser Family Foundation by Michaels Opinion Research, provides findings from qualitative research with at-risk teens about their attitudes and concerns toward HIV testing. The findings presented in the report are based on a series of confidential, in-depth interviews and focus groups with 73 high-risk teenagers (ages 15 to 19) in Miami, Houston, New York City and Newark. The report provides insight into the often complex issues that surround young peoples' perceptions of and experiences with HIV testing and the factors that both motivate and deter them from getting tested for HIV.
