The Public Is Concerned About the Problem

The public is concerned about the issue of the uninsured, with more than three-quarters (76%) saying that increasing the number of Americans covered by health insurance is a very important priority for the President and Congress to address. When asked to choose the most important health priority from a list, increasing the number of Americans covered by health insurance is chosen by more than one-quarter (26%) of the public, ranking second behind lowering the cost of health insurance (27%), and ahead of lowering the cost of prescription drugs (14%).
