Proposed legislation that would limit the ability to file lawsuits is even more popular than limiting jury awards.

A large majority of the public (72%) say they would favor a law that would prohibit individuals from filing malpractice lawsuit unless an independent medical specialist reviewed the claim and deemed it reasonable. However, nearly one-quarter (23%) who say they oppose such limits on filing malpractice lawsuits.
