Webcast
After a few seconds of buffering you should see and hear a test. If you don't, then you may be experiencing one of the problems listed below.
Common Problems and Solutions
I can't see the webcast; I get an error message.
Possible Culprits:
-
An old version of Windows Media Player. If you are having problems, download the most up-to-date version of the Windows Media Player software. (See above)
-
A firewall is blocking the streaming video signal. If you are unable to view streaming video from anywhere on the web, you may have a firewall blocking streaming video signals. If this is the problem, you will need to contact your network administrator.
-
A poor connection to the Internet. You may have temporary problems with your connection, or your connection may be insufficient to deliver a proper stream. Consult your Internet Service Provider for help.
I can see the webcast, but there's no sound.
In order to hear a webcast, you must have a computer equipped with both a sound card and speakers. You should know that if your system has speakers, you probably have a sound card. If you have a sound card and speakers and you are still having problems, try the following:
- Check the volume control on your player.
- Check the volume control on your external speakers.
- Check the sound settings on your computer’s control panel. If you use Windows, you can do this in your Settings (Start--> Settings-->Control Panel-->Multimedia-->Playback-->Volume Adjustment).
- Ask your network administrator, or Internet service provider if you have an Internet firewall, which may block reception of audio.
When I play videos using Flip4Mac, I get the video/picture, but no audio.
Unfortunately, Flip4Mac is currently incompatible with the Windows Media Voice codec, therefore resulting in no audio when Flip4Mac viewers try to play webcasts. Please download Windows Media Player 9 for the Mac (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/mac/mp9/default.aspx ) in order to view our videos.
I have a Mac, and I've downloaded installation files for Windows Media Player. What do I do with a .sitx, .hqx or .bin file?
You will need the latest stuffit expander to uncompress the file, and install the contents into your apps folder. You can download the latest stuffit expander for free here. (http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffit/index.html)
