At 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, the Kaiser Family Foundation, Families USA and the National Federation of Independent Business will launch a new series of reporters-only Health Care Reform Newsmaker briefings, with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) appearing as the first guest.

As chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, Sen. Baucus plays a critical role in developing and advancing any health reform legislation in the new Congress. In November, he released a blueprint for national health reform, including specific policy options aimed at achieving universal coverage, reducing health care costs and improving quality of care.

At the briefing, Sen. Baucus will discuss his plans for working with the Obama Administration and his congressional colleagues on a national health reform plan, as well as potential challenges to those efforts.

The new series of briefings for reporters is being jointly organized by the three partners as a way to inform the American public about the prospects and options for health care reform. Held at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Washington office, each forum will feature a short presentation by an influential leader involved in the health reform debate and will be followed by an extended question-and-answer session.
