At 8 a.m. Thursday, March 19, the Kaiser Family Foundation, Families USA and the National Federation of Independent Business will hold a reporters-only Health Care Reform Newsmaker briefing with Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

As ranking Republican on the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, Sen. Grassley plays a major role in shaping health reform legislation. Throughout his career, he has been an influential leader on key health policy issues, such as the creation of a Medicare drug benefit and improvements in rural health care.

At the briefing, Sen. Grassley will discuss his plans for working with his congressional colleagues and the Obama administration on health care reform, as well as potential challenges to those efforts.

This is the second in a series of briefings for reporters jointly organized by the three partners as a way to facilitate more in-depth discussion with leading policymakers about health reform and better inform the American public. Held at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Washington D.C. building, each forum will feature a short presentation by an influential leader involved in the health reform debate, followed by an extended question-and-answer session with journalists.
