At 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, the Kaiser Family Foundation, Families USA and the National Federation of Independent Business will hold a reporters-only Health Care Reform Newsmaker briefing with Nancy-Ann DeParle, Director of the White House Office of Health Reform.

As a key adviser to President Obama, DeParle plays a major role in shaping and implementing the administration’s positions on health reform and in advancing its efforts to help develop health reform legislation on Capitol Hill. She is a former administrator of the Medicare and Medicaid programs who was instrumental in formulating and implementing the Children's Health Insurance Program and was an Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget.  Before coming to Washington, she was the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services.

At the briefing, DeParle will discuss the Obama administration’s views on health reform and the president’s plans for working with Congress to achieve meaningful health reform legislation, as well as potential challenges to those efforts.

This is the third in a series of briefings for reporters jointly organized by the three partners as a way to facilitate more in-depth discussion with leading policymakers about health reform and better inform the American public. Held at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Washington D.C. building, each forum features a short presentation by an influential leader involved in the health reform debate, followed by an extended question-and-answer session with journalists. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) appeared as the first guest on March 3, followed by the panel’s ranking Republican, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), on March 19.
