This data update shows that in June 2008, 43.5 million individuals were enrolled in Medicaid in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, a 3.0 percent increase from the previous June. The increase represents a major reversal from the 0.6 percent decline from June 2006 to June 2007. That decline represented the first national decline in Medicaid enrollment in nearly a decade.
