About the 2006 Award
The award was offered for the first time in 2006, when Mr. Khopotso Bodibe and Ms. Anso Thom, of Health-e News Service, South Africa, jointly won the award.  In addition to the award, Kaiser organized a special HIV/AIDS briefing for more than 50 top journalists who attended the July 2006 award ceremony in Maputo, Mozambique.

A print version of the award-winning story appeared in the Johannesburg-based Sunday Times, while the full version was available on the Health-e website. In addition, a radio version of the investigation was aired on SABC’s SAfm morning show, AMLive and on the Vuyo Mbuli Show.
