People under the age of 25 continue to be disproportionately affected by the epidemic, accounting for more than half of all new HIV infections each year. This fact sheet provides the latest data about the current impact of HIV/AIDS on young people with a focus on those ages 15-24, including the impact by region, on young women and girls, factors that make adolescents particularly vulnerable and key components of prevention, care, and treatment interventions.
