Financing HIV/AIDS Care: A Quilt with Many Holes

There are multiple sources of insurance coverage and care for people with HIV/AIDS in the United States, including public programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, other safety net programs, and private coverage. As a result, the current system of financing for HIV care is a complex patchwork that leaves some outside the system and presents others with barriers to needed access. This updated report, “Financing HIV/AIDS Care: A Quilt with Many Holes,” provides a comprehensive overview of the current financing system for HIV/AIDS care in the U.S.
