Reflections of Girls in the Media: A Content Analysis Across Six Media and a National Survey of Children

Two new studies conducted for the Kaiser Family Foundation and Children Now to look at how women and girls are depicted in the media and girls' and boys' perceptions about gender roles in television shows. The first study is a content analysis of gender messages across six different types of media conducted by Dr. Nancy Signorielli of the University of Deleware. The second is a national survey of children ages 10-17 conducted by Lake, Sosin, Snell and Associates. The studies were presented at a two day conference in Los Angeles on Reflections of Girls in the Media.
